D1: Sofia

Arrival in Sofia. Meet and Greet with your guide.  

Night in Sofia.

D2: Sofia – Veliko Tarnovo – Tryavna (290 km)

Drive to Veliko Tarnovo to know more about women in power in the Second Bulgarian kingdom and how they influenced politics, religion and culture on the Balkans.

Continue to Tryavna and experience local crafts. Create martenitsa and learn about the specific rules of the Orthodox religion and how to create icons.

D3: Tryavna – Kazanlak – Zheravna (230 km)

Drive to the Valley of roses and Thracian Kings and immerse yourself in the world of etheric oils. Rejuvenate with the art of scents, create your own perfume and take an artist photo to remember the day. Visit the Thracian tomb of Kazanlak (UNESCO).

Continue to Zheravna and learn all about the local cuisine, Balkan herbs, spices and wines. Wear traditional costumes and have fun as locals and fairies do.

D4: Zheravna – Plovdiv (220 km)

Drive to Plovdiv, one of the oldest cities in Europe keeping artefacts from Roman times to nowadays. Visit the Bishop’s Basilica of Philippopolis and the Ethnographic museum in the Old  city. Free time in the articist quarter Kapana.

D5: Plovdiv – Devin (100 km)

Drive to Devin in the Rhodoppi mountains and refill with the natural powers and mineral springs of the mountains. In the afternoon, visit the Devil’s Throat cave. Legend says that this is where Orpheus descended to the subterranean kingdom of Hades to seek his love Eurydice.

D6: Devin – Ribnovo – Melnik (200 km)

Drive to Ribnovo – the wedding customs are unique to the village – preserved from the old Bulgarian customs and influenced by the Islamic traditions.

Continue to Melnik, the smallest city in Bulgaria, niched in the Pirin mountain and famously known for its wines. Know more about the local wines.

D7: Melnik – Rila monastery – Sofia (250 km)

Drive to Rila monastery, the largest and most famous Eastern Orthodox monastery in Bulgaria (UNESCO) and return to Sofia.
